Demand 

A Cease and Desist Demand is a formal letter that tells someone to stop doing something that is illegal or harmfulimmediately. It also warns them that if they don’t stop, legal action may follow.

In simple terms:

  • "Cease" = STOP !!

  • "Desist" = DON’T DO IT AGAIN !!

  • "Demand" = THIS IS SERIOUS; YOU   NEED TO COMPLY !!

For example, if someone is using your business name without permission, harassing you, or breaking a contract, you can send them a cease and desist demand to make them stop before taking them to court. Defamation, Slander and Libel are also effectively dealt with a Cease & Desist Demand. It’s often the first step in resolving disputes without filing a lawsuit.
